NEW SEALED Grateful Dead Comix Comic Hard Cover MORE RARE Than Signed Copy

  
Up for sale is one of the most rare Grateful Dead Comix. It is a factory sealed print. The kicker is that it is neither a signed copy by Jerry Garcia (500 made) or any one of the artist proof (A/P) copies which were limited to 50. This makes it even more rare! There is not a confirmed specific number of these known, but per Denis Kitchen from Denis Kitchen Art Gallery, and part creator of the comic series + a very close friend of Jerry, it's possibly only about 28 of these are actually in existence. Per the below message from Denis himself, confirms it to be, as I contact him to find out. I wish I could give you a precise number. But here's the best I can do: KSP presumably ordered 550 hard cover editions from the printer. Printers we contracted with were allowed to overprint by up to 5% and charge us. Anything over 5% they could not charge for, and they had no incentive to under-print, unless there was a production glitch accidentally destroying some copies.

I have no recollection of the latter. So my best guess is that the printer charged us for an overrun of about 28 copies (5% of 550). So, ironically, they are scarcer than the signed copies. I hope that's helpful.
